Longwood's Location

Enjoying one of the mildest climates in Canada, Nanaimo is the perfect adventure playground. Boating, kayaking, scuba diving and snorkeling are everyday activities at the bustling waterfront. Inland, practice your swing at over 30 nearby golf courses; and hike or picnic at Neck Point and Piper’s Lagoon parks. Make a day of it by cycling the 22km/14mi tree-lined Parkway Trail or strolling downtown’s picturesque Harbourfront walkway.

Further a field, other Vancouver Island attractions include exploring BC’s capital, Victoria; skiing at Mount Washington; whale watching in Tofino on the West Coast; and island hopping among the sunny Southern Gulf Islands, including Protection Island (home of Canada’s only floating pub!).

Today, Nanaimo (population approx 78,000) is a rapidly expanding urban centre, no longer just the premier gateway to Vancouver Island. Getting Here
